Our tips for creating the best photo t-shirts

Avoid that “floating photo” look

When you upload a square image to a t-shirt it can sometimes look “stuck on”. This is because of the sharp lines at the edge. You can reduce this effect by using a t-shirt colour closer to the background colour of the photo, or by having a pattern on the edge rather than straight lines.

Alternatively you can go with it, make it look like a poster, or put a frame on it to make the edge part of the design.

Crop for impact

Who said that all photos need to be rectangular? Cropping your photo can add impact and make the end result look more “designed”. We think that letterbox shaped images can work really well on t-shirts, but play around with other shapes and sizes too.

Why just 1 picture?

Using several small photos together to make a patter can add style and impact to your t-shirt. Either stitch the images together in your favourite photo editor before you start, or use one of the tools offered by the photo printing sites to do this. Caption it!

Don’t stop at just putting a photo on a t-shirt. Add a caption too! Many of the companies that print photos on to t-shirts let you add text as well.
